On Sunday 29 November we held our annual Samford State School Tournament. Since we aquired more coaching hours at Samford State School in Term 3 2015 we increased our numbers greatly. This really showed in our Samford State School Tournament where our numbers had increased significantly from 2014. With over 20 junior and senior students participating in the event, it was a great day for all!

The Junior Girls Champion was Harriett Gow with runner up Madeline Hay. This was a tight battle as both girls are close friends and train together at Samford Tennis Club.

The Senior Girls Champion was Piper Ives with runner up Jorja Gofton. Piper competed in last years tournament coming away with a runner up title. This year it was great to see her make the finals again and win the Champion Title.

Our Junior Boys Champion was Zak O’Brien with runner up Rueben Ludik. Zak is a great young player who also won the annual Southern Cross Tennis Orange Ball competition in August this year and he shows great potential for the future.

Last but not least our Senior Boys Champion was rising star Connor Hay with runner up James Bruce. Connor participates in all our events at Samford Tennis Club. He is a motivated, young tennis player who shows great enthusiasm towards the sport. He is one to look out for in the near future!

Congratulations to all particpants who played in the 2016 Samford State School Tournament. We thank you all for coming along and supporting not only your school but Southern Cross Tennis and Samford Tennis Club.

We hope the new year brings in some more wonderful events and results!
